The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a national and global organization founded in 1881 to promote equity and education for women and girls. The national organization provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, provides educational and life-long learning opportunities, advocates for job and pay equity for women, supports girls’ advancement in math, science and technology, and advocates for public policies that advance equity for women. The Arizona AAUW and the Flagstaff Branch contribute to the organization’s missions in a variety of ways. Our branch provides an annual scholarship to support a deserving student, an annual public policy forum is a venue for guest speakers to present and discuss pressing social and political issues, local activities to help career development and access to national leadership training.
